*Note: this is not my own work; I noticed this SF Chronicle headline was an inadvertent haiku while scrolling through items on Google News this afternoon. Actually, I noticed that "execution moratorium" was something of an oxymoron first. The line breaks aren't perfectly placed, but there are still 17 syllables total.

I breathe in the mist,
traipsing through the campus to
hand in my thesis.

A post-dinner stroll
to visit friends, chat, and sip
warm peppermint tea

Brisk election day,
Cumulus sit on bright blue,
Free coffee with friends
